Expansion and Contraction

Today, we learned about how heating something up can make it expand, while cooling it down will make it contract. In expansion, the particles are moving more, so spread out. In contraction, the particles slow down so can get closer together without actually touching.




The balloon did indeed inflate because the air particles
expanded when heated and had nowhere else to go!
